SMS Consent & Opt-In

How Post-Op AI collects and honors patient consent for post-visit text messages.

Overview

Post-Op AI is used by healthcare practices (dental, optometry, chiropractic, physical therapy, mental health, and veterinary) to send automated post-operative and post-visit follow-up text messages to their patients on the practice's behalf. Patients opt in to these messages at the practice, in person, by signing a paper consent form during their visit. Post-Op AI does not solicit consent from the general public and does not collect phone numbers through this website.

Mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Phone numbers and SMS opt-in status are used only to deliver the post-visit follow-up messages described below.

How Patients Opt In

  1. At the practice, the patient (or their legal guardian) is given a paper consent form to review and sign.
  2. The form identifies the practice, describes the purpose of the messages (post-visit care check-ins), message frequency, that message and data rates may apply, and the STOP / HELP keywords.
  3. The signed form is retained in the patient's record by the practice.
  4. The practice enters the patient's mobile number into Post-Op AI to enroll them in follow-up.
  5. The patient receives a confirmation text and can reply STOP at any time to opt out.

Blank Paper Consent Form (Opt-In Proof)

This is the actual paper form given to patients at the practice. It is distributed blank: the SMS opt-in checkbox is empty by default and must be marked by hand by the patient or legal guardian. It is never pre-checked or pre-filled. The form includes the mobile-number entry field, the purpose of the messages, message frequency, "message and data rates may apply," the STOP (opt out) and HELP keywords, the statement that mobile information will not be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, that consent is not a condition of care, signature and date lines, and links to our Privacy Policy and Terms.

Opt-In Proof: Confirmation Text Message

After the patient signs the paper form and the practice enrolls their mobile number, the patient receives the confirmation SMS shown below. The confirmation identifies Post-Op AI and the practice, states message frequency and rate disclosure, and explains how to reply STOP to opt out or HELP for assistance.
